 Many diesel vehicle owners remove their diesel particulate filters (DPFs) to boost performance, reduce fuel consumption, and save money. DPFs can be expensive and require frequent maintenance, prompting many to delete them and the related after-treatment systems. After deletion, the ECU is reprogrammed to adjust for the missing sensors. While this practice is legal in Calgary and Alberta, it may void the vehicle's manufacturer warranty.
